Feeding the Multitudes, November 2013

feeding multitudes

Over the past several months, the people with Feeding the Multitudes have been collecting food to feed needy families in our area.  They are working with local churches to prepare for a massive giveaway of food on November 23.  This event will feed 5,000 people, mostly single parent families and certainly those in or at the poverty line.

They need our help now.

On November 7-9, a massive “Potato Drop” will be held at Grace Point church in Dothan.  A local farmer has made huge donation of sweet potatoes, and volunteers are needed to help divide them into 3600 bags.  If you are interested in helping, stay tuned for more details.

On November 23, the area churches will hold special worship services and distribute the food.  At Heritage United Methodist Church in Enterprise, there will be nine mini-worship services.  The church is looking for people to help bag up the food and to help with the services themselves.  Do you have a musical talent to share?  If you are interested in helping on the day of distribution, please contact the church at 334-347-1991.

At this point, Feeding the Multitudes has collected all of the canned food and all of the rice that they need.  Now they are looking for financial donations to cover the cost of placing hams and Bibles in the bags.  Both items are ordered in bulk, with hams costing $3.60 apiece and the Bibles costing just .30 apiece.

If you would like to make a financial contribution to Feeding the Multitudes, please click HERE to go to their website.  On the top-right corner of the page there is an option to make a donation using your credit card.  Or, if you would prefer, checks may be mailed to:  Feed the Multitudes, 3225 Headland Avenue, Dothan, AL  36303.  You can specify whether you would like your money to be used for hams, Bibles, or for the general fund.

Thank you to everyone for supporting this mission of our local churches!
